Speaking at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Tom Rothman promised a forthcoming announcement regarding its superhero films.
When asked by Collider about the possibility of adding a New Mutant spin-off to the studio's successful X-Men franchise, he simply said: "Yes."
He went on to state that an announcement of more comics properties would come "in the summer".
"Let me just say this," he added. "All I have to say is, I agree with you in your assessment of the potential in a lot of these characters."
New Mutants was launched as a spin-off from Marvel Comics' X-Men in 1982, with a new cast of young mutants in training created by veteran writer Chris Claremont.
Fox's most recent X-Men movie was 2011's First Class, with a sequel and The Wolverine currently in the works.

All's well and good, but IF this actually happens, what iteration of the team do they plan on using. It would be interesting to see WARLOCK on the big screen......

Interesting news... If they go for an old school New Mutant feel, and have the school and their rivalry with the Hellions, I can really see that working. High school drama and kids with powers - could be a teen franchise with good connections to the main films - Professor X as headmaster, Beast as a teacher, etc.

It appears superhero movies will be with us for a while (as long as they continue to make $) - good, I enjoy a bit of fantasy in our lives.
