Jack Kirby has been credited on the Avengers movie.Contrary to previous reports, the co-creator of the Marvel Comics superhero team has been credited as such in Joss Whedon's film, according to Moviefone.

The name of the legendary artist and writer had been omitted from promotional material for the upcoming Marvel Studios production.

Veteran creator Steve Bissette and James Sturm, co-founder of the Centre for Cartoon Studies, had both called for boycotts of the film surrounding the supposed exclusion.

Kirby ended his professional relationship with the publisher in 1970, and maintained a tempestuous relationship with Marvel and his former collaborator Lee, clashing with them over the rights to his creations until his death in 1994.
In a recent interview, Lee questioned why Kirby should be credited in The Avengers.
The Avengers opened in UK cinemas yesterday (April 26) and will debut in the US on May 4.

He got his credit in a hell of a film, got back not long ago. That spot from the advert when they form up in a circle and the camera pans around... the whole audience burst out cheering and whooping. Epic moment that's so much better in context.

Lee didn't create the Avengers singlehandedly. Everyone knows Jack Kirby co-created the bulk of Marvel's silver age heroes. There's no debate: his name should be added to the movie credit.

I remembered a funny family guy episode where they joked how at the begining of movies they give more screen credit to the companies involved each with their own intro music & graphics, than the actual actors & writers. One day it will be longer than the movie.
