Sparkle: Jordin Sparks fronts poster for Whitney Houston's final film

The poster for Whitney Houston's final movie Sparkle has been released online.

The drama sees American Idol winner Jordin Sparks take on the role of Detroit singer Sparkle Williams, who teams up with her siblings Sister (Carmen Ejogo) and Dolores (Tika Sumpter) to form a girl group during the Motown era.



Houston, who was a producer on the movie, plays the girls' mother Emma and her final studio recordings - gospel classic 'His Eye is on the Sparrow' and 'Celebrate', written by R Kelly and performed with Sparks - will feature on the soundtrack.

Sparkle is Houston's fourth feature film, following The Bodyguard (1992), Waiting to Exhale (1995) and The Preacher's Wife (1996).

Cee Lo Green and Derek Luke also star in director Salim Akil's Sparkle, opening in the US on August 17 and October 5 in the UK.
