The movie, which will be helmed by Joshua Michael Stern, chronicles the life of the entrepreneur, from his early hippie days to his death in October 2011.
Kutcher, who recently split from wife Demi Moore, was rumoured to be dating Rihanna. However, the singer has since denied the news.
In late March, Kutcher began talks to return for a tenth season of Two and a Half Men.
The actor replaced former series star Charlie Sheen last year.
