Director Todd Phillips, who helmed the first two films and will return for the third, confirmed yesterday that the franchise would conclude with its third instalment.
He said in a statement: "I'm so excited to embark on another Hangover film with Bradley, Ed and Zach.
"We're going to surprise a lot of people with the final chapter we have planned. It will be a fitting conclusion to our three-part opera of mayhem, despair and bad decisions."
Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis will all return for the third film, which is expected to begin production in September.
The combined box office success of the first two Hangover movies has made this a billion-dollar franchise.
The Hangover Part III is due for release in the US on May 24, 2013.

They'll never outdo the first. However the 2nd was decent (despite being a replay in parts). Sometimes Movies need to just stop at trilogies instead of countless crappy straight-to-DVD sequels. Hopefully this one will recapture some of the original.

Loved both movies, the second one, really close to the edge, but laughed from start to end. Agree, not as original as the first. In this politically correct world, almost felt guilty laughing, which probably made it more enjoyable.
