Chris Colfer film debut is heartbreaking, says Allison Janney

Allison Janney has revealed that upcoming coming-of-age drama Struck By Lightning is "heartbreaking".

Glee actor Chris Colfer wrote and produced the movie, and will star as Janney's son Carson. Mad Men's Christina Hendricks will also appear in the film.

"He plays a kid who refuses to go down," Janney told E! Online. "He's a kid that gets tortured by all the kids at school - endlessly and mercilessly. But he refuses to disintegrate and it makes him stronger and he's sort of impenetrable.

"And it's also sort of heartbreaking. It will make you cry."

The West Wing actress praised Colfer's wide variety of talents, adding: "He just so impressed me and so intimidated me with everything that he does.

"He writes children's books, he now writes movie and he acts in them - he's got a lot going on, that kid!"

Janney recently said that she was "sad" upon hearing about the end of sitcom Mr Sunshine.
