According to People, the 'Cowboy Casanova' star has been cast in Soul Surfer, a biopic about Hamilton, who lost her arm in a shark attack in 2003.
She will reportedly play Hamilton's church youth counselor Sarah Hill.
Speaking to the magazine, Hamilton said: "Sarah has been my best friend since I was very young. After my shark attack, she always knew what to say to push me on... I can't wait to see her on set."
Underwood is reported to be filming her role in Hawaii next week. The movie, which co-stars AnnaSophia Robb, Dennis Quaid and Helen Hunt, will be released this summer.
