'The Amazing Spider-Man' preview: 10 teasers for the superhero reboot

Andrew Garfield steps into the role of Peter Parker for director Marc Webb's Amazing Spider-Man, a relaunch of the Marvel comic book franchise that sees the nerdy high-schooler fall for classmate Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone).

Digital Spy attended an exclusive screening of special preview footage from the movie this evening - here are ten quick teasers from the webslinging blockbuster...

1. The early scenes were reminiscent of the high school moments from Sam Raimi's first Spider-Man, with Peter Parker standing up to bully Flash Thompson (Chris Zylka). Peter refuses to take a photo of Flash dunking a student into his food tray and gets a punch for his troubles.

2. The film promises to tell "the untold story", part of which is Peter's relationship with his parents Richard and Mary.

3. "She's the girl from your computer."

4. This leads into an adorably awkward moment where Peter asks Gwen out on a date. Soundtracked to Coldplay, no less.

5. Montage alert! We see Peter getting to grips with his newfound powers, scaling walls and swinging from a chain inside a warehouse. (500) Days of Summer director Webb's musical ear comes into play again as he plays it out to Rolling Stones' 'Street Fighting Man'.

6. Martin Sheen's Uncle Ben is a solid presence for Peter, relaying Richard's belief in taking responsibility to his nephew.

7. "Do you think a cop would be dressed in this suit?"

8. Spidey gives his mechanical webshooters a test-run by pinning a crook against a wall.

9. Curt Connors's (Rhys Ifans) connection to Richard draws Peter to him. We get a good glimpse of him in full Lizard mode, too, with a scaly arm surging through a window to grab Peter.

10. "I'm issuing an arrest warrant for the vigilante known as Spider-Man."
