Fifty Shades of Grey has become the fastest adult paperback to sell one million copies and has broken the record for most sales in a week.EL James's explicit erotic novel, which began life as a piece of Twilight fan fiction, obtained the seven figure total in just 11 weeks, beating previous holder The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown, which took 36 weeks to hit one million.

The previous holder of the weekly sales record was The Tales of Beedle the Bard by Harry Potter writer JK Rowling, which sold 367,625 copies in seven days during 2008 - less than the 397,889 copies totalled by Fifty Shades of Grey.
Fifty Shades has also become the first eBook to sell over one million copies for Kindles, according to Amazon.
It is currently the 32nd biggest-selling book since records began in 1998, the BBC reports.
The rights to Fifty Shades of Grey were bought by Universal and Focus for $3m (£1.9m) in March.
Digital Spy readers have named Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder and Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke as their favourites to play the novel's BDSM-loving couple on the big screen.

Just wondered if anyone on here who has read the book and either liked or disliked - or even those who haven't read it but still have an opinion on it - it would be interested in reading some parodies of the first book? Google 'Fictional fiction three more shades of grey', you won't be disappointed :)

It's drivel from the excerpts I have actually read but if this can get made into a book, there's hope for all of us who want to get something published, right?

This book is basically the copy of Men Only teenage lads find under their dads bed and crack one off over. The majority of women I know who have read this are probably either usless in bed, getting it off someone useless in bed or aint getting any at all. Its a fad. Its Sheep thrills for the bandwagon jumpers. On the bright side though it has taken women away from reading Take a Break.
