Just Cause 2's latest fan-made mod enables up to 600 people to compete in multiplayer matches. In the six weeks since it was announced, the multiplayer mod has been tested four times. The results have been posted in a YouTube video (below).
The video features a wide variety of shootouts, crashes, races and mid-air collisions. One part sees multiple agents hitching a ride in the same vehicle.
With a lack of multiplayer content in the original release, the mod has generated huge interest. Its forum alone has gained more than 10,000 registered users since it launched.
Just Cause 2 was released for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in 2010.
The game once again starred Agency operative Rico Rodriguez, who landed on the fictional island of Panau to overthrow a dictator.
It featured a Chaos system, which rewarded players for causing carnage.
A number of Just Cause web domains were recently filed by Square Enix, suggesting that a sequel will be announced soon.

I think it supports up to 1,000 players.
