Publication of what Microsoft is calling the "IEB Roadmap" is in breach of copyright, according to the firm's legal team at Covington & Burling LLP.
The mention of "IEB" - which stands for Interactive Entertainment Business, Microsoft's Xbox division - lends credibility to the contents of the document.
The two-year-old document, which first appeared on Scribd before its removal, claims that the console will feature Kinect 2.0, 3D technology and the long-rumoured Xbox TV.
The leaked document appeared to out the recently-announced SmartGlass service, describing "Xbox experiences served up from the cloud" direct to any screen.
According to the document, the Xbox 720 and its Kinect 2.0 sensor will be released in 2013, priced at $299 (£190).
Microsoft is yet to comment directly on the legitimacy of the documents, instead focusing on the Xbox 360, which will host new games such as Halo 4, Gears of War: Judgement and Forza Horizon.

Doesn't matter what it costs, I'm not buying another Microsoft console after what a disaster the last two have been.
I have never owned anything that screws up as often as the 360 in my life.

Most of the specs in the document are likely to be out of date as the document is at least 2 years old anyway.

As they say "Never believe anything until it's been officially denied"
If Microsoft had ignored this rather dubious looking document it would have got buried in the pile of other leaks and rumour.
By trying to suppress it, they've drawn attention to it, and boosted it's credibility.

Which was probably the idea anyway - lots of free publicity and creating a buzz for the new console.
