Sonic the Hedgehog sound director Jun Senoue and rock singer Johnny Gioeli have been revealed as the event's first guests. The duo, collectively known as Crush 40, composed songs for the Sonic Adventure series and Sonic Heroes.
"They're truly the rock sound of a Sonic generation, and Jun and Johnny will be present to meet with fans and perform their latest and greatest on stage," said the event organisers.
"In 2010, Crush 40 rocked the Summer of Sonic convention - their second ever live performance and the first outside of Japan - and this year they're set to do it all over again."
Previous years have seen appearances by Sonic series creator Yuji Naka, programmer Takashi Iizuka, and the writers of Sonic the Comic.
Summer of Sonic's first wave of tickets will be released via its website on Sunday, May 13, at 12.00 BST. An announcement about a second batch will be made in the future. Entry to the event will be free.
