Titled Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, the series will introduce fans to a young UNSC cadet who goes on to lead the UNSC Infinity spacecraft having been inspired by Master Chief. The story will tie in with the plot of the game.
Representing Microsoft's largest investment in live action to date, 343 Industries' Frank O'Connor said that the series will appeal to more than just hardcore Halo fans.
"We needed a way to ensure there was a way for people to get onboard this universe without feeling intimidated. Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn is an origins story that teaches you about a lot of different facets of the universe," explains O'Conner.
343's Matt McCloskey, meanwhile, elaborated on the point, saying: "We wanted to go way beyond that and transform this live-action exploration from advertising into a full standalone product that people will enjoy."
More details, including the director and cast, will be revealed at Comic-Con in San Diego this July.
