Though the new console is still scheduled to release by the end of the year, Nintendo has said it will wait to announce the system's release date and price until some time after E3.
The Japanese publisher took a similar strategy with the Wii in 2006, announcing the system's release date and price during a September 14 press conference, which has led many to predict a similar September reveal for the Wii U this year.
Nintendo still plans a large showing for the Wii U at E3, where the console's final hardware will be present and playable. Its initial launch lineup of games will also be revealed, which is said to include New Super Mario Bros 2, Pikmin 3 and the newly leaked Rayman Legends.
First-party Wii U games, as well as 3DS games, will be available the same day both at retail and as downloads, the publisher announced.
Wii U will release in Japan, North America and Europe during the 2012 year-end sales season.

Oh this is hilarious. Only two people (you and me) actually know that New Super Mario Bros 2 is a 3DS game.

Nintendo aren't stupid. They know that if they announced the price too soon, and it was above people's expectations, then it would naturally put a lot of people off. They need to showcase the great games first, and reel people in slowly before revealing the price. Then they'll be soo interested that the price won't matter to them anymore.
Anyway I'm looking forward to the Wii U regardless. I'm guessing it will be within the £200-250 range for launch. Just a guess though..

I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo release Super Mario Bros 2 'Lost Levels' type game for Wii U. Super Mario Bros Mii and Super Mario Bros 2 are probably the same game; I couldn't imagine them brand 2 very similar games differently.

Pretty sure New Super Mario Bros. 2 is a 3DS game, not Wii U. I was under the impression that it was New Super Mario Bros. Mii on Wii U.
