'TimeSplitters 4' not in development, says Crytek

TimeSplitters 4 is not in development, Crytek has said. When asked by CVG about the status of the heavily-rumoured shooter sequel, a spokesperson for the publisher responded: "No, it's not in development."

A tongue-in-cheek statement was also provided, explaining that black market monkeys were to blame.
"For Timesplitters 4, with ever spiralling development costs, massive teams and endless crunch we decided on a more radical development strategy," it read.
"In short, the experiment was to implement the infinite monkey theorem. With cloning being a far too expensive option, we spent all of the development budget on buying monkeys on the black market.
"Those seven monkeys are now sat in a room with typewriters and lots of mirrors, and we fully expect Timesplitters 4 to be finished soon. Rumours are that they haven't written any code but just tease the press from time to time. Those damn monkeys."
It concluded: "PS: anyone got any bananas?"
The statement follows a recent report that a magazine has seen TimeSplitters 4 in action.
Last year, both the game and a new Xbox were rumoured for a 2012 reveal, which was promptly denied by Crytek.

Valve have a strict policy to never make a game above number three, sorry.

If you're not going to make it... mind selling the rights to someone who will? :/ Valve perhaps, they tend to do comedy well. TimeSplitters was so awesome for the fact it didn't take itself seriously and was highly amusing to play; not much else like that now :(
