has said that it will not be discussing next generation Xbox technology at this summer's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3).
Group manager of PR David Dennis told Bloomberg
that the firm will not be revealing any new hardware in the near future, despite persistent rumours to the contrary
"For us, 2012 is all about Xbox 360," he said. "There will be no talk of new Xbox hardware at E3 or any time soon."
The report speculates that Microsoft is likely to reveal a successor to the Xbox 360 in 2013, releasing it onto the market the following year.
Wedbush Securities Inc analyst Michael Pachter said that the company does not need to release next generation hardware at present due to high sales figures of the Xbox 360.
"They're still selling a lot of Xbox 360, and they're making money," he said. "I don't think the world needs them to put a new console out just because we're bored."
