'Assassin's Creed 3' protagonist leaked, announcement soon

Ubisoft has suggested that the announcement for Assassin's Creed III is coming soon.

On the official Assassin's Creed Facebook page, Ubisoft posted that the next game's announcement is "only days away" and that more details will appear on the game's official site tomorrow (March 1).

However, the first image of Assassin's Creed III has reportedly leaked ahead of Ubisoft's announcement. Kotaku received an email from a Best Buy employee containing what appears to be the game's new protagonist.



The leaked image depicts an assassin wearing an eighteenth century military jacket and Native American leggings with the US Colonial flag in the background. It supports rumours that the next game in the series will take place during the American Revolution.

For weapons, the assassin is shown holding a flintlock pistol and tomahawk, with a saber and second pistol on his waist and bow and arrows on his back.

The Best Buy informant also claimed that the game is due to be officially unveiled on March 5, and that there will be pre-order bonuses.

During a recent call with investors, Ubisoft announced that Assassin's Creed III will be released on October 30, 2012.

Assassin's Creed III will arrive on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
