Developed by Rockstar North, the game will be set in present day Los Santos and the surrounding countryside, hills and beaches.
The firm also said that Grand Theft Auto V will feature mutliplayer and is "the largest and most ambitious game [we have] created".
"A bold new direction in open-world freedom, storytelling, mission-based gameplay and online multiplayer, Grand Theft Auto V focuses on the pursuit of the almighty dollar in a re-imagined, present day Southern California," read a press release.
Grand Theft Auto V's first trailer debuted yesterday, confirming it will be set in a Los Angeles-style city and will feature planes, mountainous environments and poverty as an ongoing theme.
Analysts have predicted a summer 2012 release date, suggesting that a pre-E3 expo launch in June is likely.

Looking forward to it.

Jamil Ibrahim Perhaps, but it would seem peculiar to have the countrysides and vast landscapes but not the other cities to connect the two. If you think about it, the other cities weren't really that big. Las Venturas for example would only really need the Las Vegas style strip and the San Fierro would mainly need the stand out landmarks of San Francisco.
The lanscapes in San Andreas were simply means of connecting the three cities. I can imagine Los Santos to be HUGE so maybe there won't be any need for the other two cities. But it'd be cool to see something like that. They're going to have DLC regardless, so maybe there will be something. Perhaps a DLC may just add one of the other cities.

Steven Stewart perhaps but have you any idea how long it takes to model the cities to the level of detail shown in IV and V? I just can't see Rockstar adding an area of substantional size for an episode, I could be wrong of course. The portion of San Andreas that appears in GTA V will be enormous I think, in actual fact I prefer that they are focusing on the Los Santos area (city and otherwise)...one city on a mammoth scale in mind-blowing detail is better than three smaller cities IMO.

Jorge Bastible Meaning that The Music the game has used in recent years has been a great appeal.. for example Vice City's 80s Soundtrack... particularly the "Emotion" station!
