A high school student has seen his plan to bring a porn star to prom blocked by school officials.

Mike Stone, 18, had sent hundreds of tweets to adult movie actresses asking if they would join him to his leavers' ball at Tartan High School in Oakdale, Minnesota.

Megan Piper agreed to his request as long as he paid her travel costs from Los Angeles.

She explained that she was excited to attend as she was unable to go to her own prom.

"I thought it was really cute, and I thought it would make his night by saying 'yes'."

However, local school district officials have since blocked Stone's plans, with Superintendent Patty Phillips saying that Piper's presence would be "inconsistent" with school policy.

Stone revealed that he was called into the principal's office after a website posted about his plans.

"He was saying that it's not a good thing to do that," Stone told the Daily Dot. "I said, 'I was just doing it to see what actually happened'.

"He said I'm not in trouble but said I should get out of that stuff. He told me not to get into any more drama like this."

Stone's efforts are similar to several US army soldiers who used YouTube to ask out celebrities as dates to their Marine Corps Ball.

Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake have both attended marine events, while Taylor Swift took a terminally ill fan to the Country Music Awards after being asked to go to prom.
