The annual list was published yesterday (June 15), and also included a knighthood for Kenneth Branagh and honours for Kate Winslet, Gary Barlow, Gareth Malone, Amanda Redman and Armando Iannucci.
The fan-favourite writer is best known for his work on series including The Invisibles, New X-Men, Doom Patrol and DC Comics' Batman franchise.
He is currently writing Action Comics and the newly-relaunched Batman Incorporated.
The 52-year-old writer divides his time between Los Angeles and Scotland.

Don't be daft! She loved his New Adventures of Hitler over at 2000AD! Plus she has a signed frame copy of all the original issues of the Big Dave story arc "Monarchy in the UK" ;)
