A @fablescon Twitter account has been launched, with a bio that tells fans to "keep the 22nd, 23rd and 24th of March 2013 open for an event of event-like proportions".
Such an event would be following a trend of focused conventions, including the recent Image Con and the forthcoming Grant Morrison-celebrating MorrisonCon.
Willingham and artist Mark Buckingham's Vertigo title Fables will celebrate its tenth anniversary this year.
It has spawned a series of spinoffs, including Jack of Fables, two Cinderella miniseries and the newly launched Fairest.
The convention would have a pool of acclaimed collaborators to draw from, including Chris Roberson, Mike Allred, Phil Jimenez, Bryan Talbot and P Craig Russell.
