"I'm excited for readers to see this new Earth 2 version of Hawkgirl," said writer James Robinson.
"As the co-creator of the original Kendra Saunders, I've taken pains to keep the essence of her personality while adding a more two-fisted quality to her as well.
"I'm also enjoying developing another aspect to her, in that with the absence of Batman, she must also step up and become the great detective of Earth 2. I hope readers will enjoy watching her find her place in this new world as a part of this new team of heroes."
Robinson and artist Nicola Scott's new Earth 2 title debuted the parallel universe last week alongside the Paul Levitz-penned sister title Worlds' Finest.
New versions of characters including Alan Scott/Green Lantern and Jay Garrick/The Flash have already been unveiled on previous covers of the title.
Earth 2 #4 will be released in July.

y2jcb i cant stand marvel , never have been a fan of it so would be wrong to comment , batwing is a new character, nothing from the past but amazingly written , great backstory , cheesy armour but evidence that if you take the time and effort you can build great characters, hell bring icon and hardware into earth 2 if need be as they are valid, worthwhile characters.

Well normally i would agree. BUT these 'new' characters never stick and this is Earth 2 so a different world all together. When redoing a 'world' that is the time to make changes i.e. Marvels 'SamJackson' Nick Fury from the Ultimate Universe is now more 'mainstream' than the ol white Nick! so it worked OK. How's Batwing working for you? not as well as Nick Fury, i bet!

ok , this is where I get frustrated. you have some fantastic african american characters in dc and with a new world you can create new ones, but changing ethnicity for the sake of diversity is lazy as hell.
