James Robinson has discussed the shocking events in Earth 2 #1.The debut issue of the Nicola Scott-illustrated New 52 second wave title concludes with the death of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman.
"The idea is Earth 2 is the world where they won the Apokolips War, but it was at the cost of their three heroes," Robinson told Comic Book Resources.
"And now five years later, an even greater evil is destined to arrive on Earth 2 at some unspecified point in the future and a new group of heroes - without the guidance of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman - have to form and become the epitome of what a hero is."
Robinson said that heroes including Green Lantern Alan Scott and Hawkgirl would rise to fill the void left by the death of DC Comics' 'Trinity'.
"This new team of heroes is going to fill the gaps of void that is left with the death of the Big Three," he continued. "They rise to the occasion and they eventually become the Justice Society of America and save the world!"
The Justice Society was put on hiatus following DC's relaunch last year.
Earth 2 debuted on Wednesday (May 2) alongside its sister title Worlds' Finest.

I'm 56 years old. Although I am not bigoted I have a real problem with a gay Alan Scott. I grew up with this character who I believe along with the other WW2 heroes from earth two represented much of whats best in mankind. Fair play, equality, prudent behavior, etc. And he was straight. If DC wanted a gay character they could have created one instead of using existing characters "retro-conned" in to gayness. If they wanted a gay GL then create a new GL character with a different origin or history and an individual identity. I would have had no objection to that. I'll not be buying the Earth 2 series of books.
Also how did Power Girl meet her Earth 2 version and then BECOME the Earth 2 version???? Whats up with that. I am a continuity freak I guess.

@Eliot - I think what I miss most of all out of this reboot is the JSA being the heroes of WW2 when everything was one big canon. I loved Geoff Johns JSA, its what got me into DC Comics and now reading this I just want to go back and read how Jay beat up Eclipso.

its no problem lee james i love the jsa big time and i was hopeing that this was going to be something great it just may who knows but what i hate more is the hype and lie's that were give to us by dc with saying like who will batman be willing to kill to keep his family safe and how will superman bear the great lost it was a waste of time have them in the book then up and kill them just like that then at the end of the book to be told that theres a grearter evil still

@Eliot - Thanks mate, glad someone agrees with me, my biggest concern now is this title is going to become a 'New Universe' rip-off. @Tom - They were part of the JSA back when the team was from Earth-2 back in the Silver Age.

i feel the same way also lee james, they gave us all this hype about how great this book was going to be i just feel it was a let down for me,dc comics get to the point being a lets kill kill kill lets make a new hero then kill them in just a few pages its a shame
