The illustrator, who set the current record of 48 continuous hours a decade ago, is taking part in the feat to raise money for two children's cancer charities.
Heroes For Jordan, an organisation founded to fund cancer care for Romita Jr's 12-year-old niece Jordan Alyssa Atherton, will be the main benefactor. Proceeds will also be donated to the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada.
Romita Jr's record attempt coincides with the release of Hit Girl issue #1, a Kick-Ass spinoff drawn by the artist, and the US launch of The Avengers movie.
The world record attempt will commence on May 4 at the Hard Rock Cafe on the Las Vegas Strip in the Showcase Mall.
Hard Rock Cafe, Marvel Comics, Comic Oasis, Desert Wind Comics, and UA Showcase 8 have pledged their support to the event.

You've gotta love JRjr! Easily my favourite artist of the modern Marvel era, in much the same way his dad was my favourite artist of the 1960s, and so good for charity too!
If only I had a means of getting to Vegas...
