Grant Morrison has described the concept of Batman as "utterly gay".The long-term writer on DC Comics' franchise discussed the series in an interview with Playboy.

"He's very plutonian in the sense that he's wealthy and also in the sense that he's sexually deviant," Morrison said of Bruce Wayne. "Gayness is built into Batman.
"I'm not using gay in the pejorative sense, but Batman is very, very gay. There's just no denying it. Obviously as a fictional character he's intended to be heterosexual, but the basis of the whole concept is utterly gay.
"I think that's why people like it. All these women fancy him and they all wear fetish clothes and jump around rooftops to get to him. He doesn't care - he's more interested in hanging out with the old guy and the kid."
Morrison has been writing Batman since 2006's 'Batman & Son' storyline. His run has included 'Batman R.I.P.', Batman and Robin and The Return of Bruce Wayne.
His latest project, Batman Incorporated, will return next month as part of DC's second wave of New 52 titles.

I don't get why everyone is getting so pissed about it.
He's not belittling Batman OR GAYS, hence the"I'm not using gay in the pejorative sense-".
He obviously respects Batman, or else he wouldn't have made one of the best Bat-tales of all time.

Peter Nolan Just because two men hang out doesn't mean there is anything homoerotic about it. These days everything is homoerotic if it doesn't involve beer and sport. It's ludacriss.

I always find it those kidn of theories absurd. Bruce Wayne is hetero, he never had a sexual relationship with a man but plenty with women, he even has a child by now and whatnot. Case closed.

"Obviously as a fictional character he's intended to be heterosexual".
^ erm, why? Can fictional characters not be gay? And strong, positive role model characters at that?
