DC Comics has revealed that 'Flashpoint' will see the relaunch of all its titles.52 first issues will be released following the conclusion of the current event.
The DC titles will also all go day-and-date with their print and digital releases.
August 31 will see the release of only two comics by the publisher - the concluding Flashpoint #5 and the debut issue of a new Justice League title by Geoff Johns and Jim Lee.
The changes to the line will include rebooted character origins and costume redesigns by Lee.
"We looked at what was going on in the marketplace and felt we really want to inject new life in our characters and line," co-publisher Dan DiDio told USA Today. "This was a chance to start, not at the beginning, but at a point where our characters are younger and the stories are being told for today's audience."
New ongoing series will include a Superman title penned by Grant Morrison, Teen Titans from Fabian Nicieza, Hawkman by James Robinson and Aquaman from Johns and Ivan Reis.
Johns will also continue on Green Lantern but Birds of Prey #1 will not be written by long-time scribe Gail Simone.
It had already been confirmed that Johns would no longer be writing The Flash after 'Flashpoint'.

So, in attempt to gain new readership, DC will be chucking out 70+ years of mythologies and outright erasing much beloved characters such as Power Girl. Meanwhile, in an attempt to gain new readership, Marvel will be streamlining it titles and creating series of "jumping on" comics, targeted at new readers but built upon the core Marvel Universe, thus gaining a new audience and not alienating the old.
You know, you really do have to applaud DC for their sheer determination to shoot themselves in the foot.

surely this is ripping off Marvel's "ultimate" series? where they restarted most of the storylines, backstorys, historys, powers, even names and costumes?

And this http://www.dccomics.com/dcu/news/?nw=20237 would seem to disagree with that. It would appear that some will be a reboot.

I have collected DC for years and am very disappointed with this whole flashpoint story and the relaunch truly despicable!
