Amitabh Bachchan marks rebirth after 'Coolie' accident

is celebrating what he calls his 'second birthday'.
The actor regards August 2 as a day of "rebirth" for him after recovery from a near-fatal accident on the set of Coolie
.Writing on his blog
, he said: "Happy birthday Mr B, and never forget I was the first one to wish you."
The accident occurred on July 26, 1982, when a mistimed jump in a fight scene with co-star Puneet Issar caused him to hit the corner of a table and suffer a ruptured spleen.
Doctors performed an emergency splenectomy but Bachchan reportedly remained close to death. With no sign of life on August 2, doctors injected adrenaline straight into Bachchan's heart. Jaya Bachchan then saw one of his toes move and exclaimed: "Look, he's alive," NDTV
August 2 has since been declared Bachchan's 'second birthday'.
The actor, who has never previously spoken about the incident, recently promised to reveal the details of it
, though he said they may not be "pleasant to read, or even describe".
Bachchan was recently admitted to hospital for abdominal surgery relating to the accident
