Saif Ali Khan 'does not want Kareena to convert to Islam'

Saif Ali Khan has said he does not expect Kareena Kapoor to convert to Islam after their marriage.

While the 31-year-old actress will become the Begum of Pataudi, she plans to have a Hindu wedding, India Today reports.

Khan said he does not expect Kapoor to change her religion, explaining: "I would never want her (Kareena) to change her religion. That is the trouble with religion really... it expects conversion. I don't buy or believe that.

"I think it's good that the government [agrees] too, unless I'm misinformed about the law amended to include it in the Special Marriage Act. If and when we do get married, no one has to change his or her religion."

Kapoor will reportedly wear mother-in-law Sharmila Tagore's bridal finery on her wedding day, though it appears she will not assume a Muslim name or identity.

The actress will continue to act after marriage and maintains that she will always remain Kareena Kapoor, saying: "There is no way I am dropping the Kapoor in my name."

Kapoor will marry the Agent Vinod star at the Pataudi Palace on October 16.
