'Rowdy Rathore' breaks Akshay Kumar's box office record

has broken Akshay Kumar
's personal box office record.
The action film, which released to packed cinemas across India, has registered the biggest opening weekend collections of Kumar's two-decade-long career, Hindustan Times
The 44-year-old actor thanked his fans on Twitter, saying
: "I owe a HUGE thank you to my audience! You are the only reason behind the biggest opening weekend of my career! Love Rowdy."
Made on a budget of Rs. 45 crore, the film has already collected Rs. 48.5 crore (£6.9 million) in the opening weekend. Film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted: "#RowdyRathore rakes in Rs. 48.5 crore in 3 days. Fantabulous!"
Directed by Prabhu Deva the film opened on 2,800 screens across the country.
Co-produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ronnie Screwvala, the film marked Kumar's return as an action hero
after seven years.
Bhansali described the film as a crowd-pleaser.
