Shah Rukh Khan 'to play college professor'

Shah Rukh Khan is said to be playing a college professor in Student of The Year.

The actor, who had been linked to the film for a number of months, is to play a significant role in the project, The Times of India reports.

"Rumours about SRK acting in KJo's next [project] had been doing the rounds but Karan's constant silence about the film started giving people the impression that SRK was only planning to produce the film," said a source for the newspaper.

"But actually, both SRK and Karan are co-producing the film, which will launch newcomers Varun Dhawan, Siddarth Malhotra and Aaliya Bhatt. SRK will play the role of one of the professors in the college," the source announced.

This is the second time that the actor will perform in the role of a teacher, following the 2000 release Mohabbatein.

The source added: "The role will not be limited to a cameo - it will be full-fledged one."
