Channel Ten bosses have announced that a new morning TV show will launch in January 2012.
The new series, which will be called Breakfast
and will be hosted by The 7pm Project
star Andrew Rochford
, has been created to rival other morning programmes Sunrise
A Ten spokesperson told the Herald Sun
: "If we want to compete for the revenue share that we think we deserve then we need to have a fully planned schedule. The show will set a different tone compared to the opposition."
The television network has also revealed plans to renew George Negus's 6.30pm current affairs show despite poor viewing figures
It will also bring back variety show Young Talent Time
, to be hosted by former Australian Idol
star Rob Mills.
Other shows featuring in Ten's new schedule include a revamped version of The Renovators
, a drama based on Wikileaks founder Julian Assange and a singles version of weight loss series The Biggest Loser
In July this year, Ten's head of corporate communications Jeanette McLachlan hinted at change
when she said that "all networks continually look at their programming schedules". The axing of music show Video Hits
was announced soon afterwards.
